CHRIS BARNES played for the Comets from 2008-12 and claimed second team All-America honors by the NABC as a junior after leading UTD to three straight NCAA Division III National Championship appearances.

He was a two-time All-District honoree by the NABC and twice named the ASC East Division Player of the Year. Closing out his career as the program's all-time leading scorer, Barnes ranked second all-time in the Comets' scoring list with 1,411 points at the time of his induction. He also ranked sixth all-time at UTD in blocked shots and seventh in rebounding. During Barnes' career, the Comets posted a 93-23 overall record and claimed the ASC title in 2009. The 2009 UTD men's squad remains to this day the only Comet program to advance to the Elite 8 of the NCAA tournament.

Barnes earned his bachelor's degree in Business Administration from UTD in 2011.
