ASC Volleyball Championship Tournament Central
RICHARDSON, Texas -Â After a first-round bye, the UT Dallas volleyball team will open its 19th straight ASC Championship Tournament Friday with a semifinal match at 5 p.m. at the UTD Activity Center.
The Comets posted an 18-5 overall record and won the regular season title with a 14-2 mark in league play. UTD will take the winner between #4 LeTourneau and #5 Hardin-Simmons. The #2 seed Mary Hardin-Baylor will play in the second semifinal at 7:30 p.m. Friday against either No. 3 East Texas Baptist or No. 6 McMurry.
UTD will be competing for its ASC-record eighth league title this weekend and enter the 2022 event with a 31-18 all-time record in the Comets' previous 18 trips to the tournament. The Comets hold the ASC record for tournament wins (31) and rank second all-time in appearances (19). UTD claimed the league title in 2008, 2009, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2019 and 2021.
The Comets lead the league in opponent hitting percentage (.139), while ranking second in blocks per set (1.81) and third in hitting (.198), assists per set (11.81), kills per set (12.58) and service aces (1.82).
Individually, senior middle blocker
Karle Lynd leads the ASC with a .352 hitting percentage and 0.93 blocks per set. Junior setter
Emma Sevening is fourth with 5.62 assists per set and junior
Izzy Sundquist is ninth with 4.70. Senior outside hitter
Abby Jones is ninth with 2.92 kills per set and junior libero
Rachel Baxter is ninth at 4.12 digs per set. Senior right side
Catherine Croft is 10th in aces (0.39) and freshman
Lauren Johnson is sixth with 0.81 blocks per frame.

Spectator parking will be allowed - as available - in LOT J (next to the Activity Center) after 4 pm on Thursday & Friday, as well as Saturday afternoon.
