IRVING, TX (10.15.16) - UT Dallas had three female runners finish in the Top 5 of the University of Dallas Invitational cross country meet Saturday morning, but the Comets were edged out in the final point tally by the team from Texas Wesleyan University. UTD's Lyndsey Rayborn, Hollis Ratliff and
Samantha Tschirhart took first, second and fifth place respectively in the women's field of 78 runners from 10 teams, including several from the American Southwest Conference.

Rayborn finished ahead of the entire field, posting a time of 19:17.74, while teammate Ratliff was right on her heels, taking second place with a 19:26.53. Tschirhart came on strong late in the race to place 5th with a 19:52.58. TWU's top two finishers finished sixth and eighth, but the Rams placed all five runners in the top 15 of the field to edge out the win, 53-51. UTD's finish outpaced ASC opponents from UT-Tyler, East Texas Baptist, McMurry and Hardin-Simmons.
The UTD men finished fourth in a strong men's field, which featured 81 runners from 10 schools. ASC foe LeTourneau took first place in the men's division with 60 points while UTD was 35 points back in fourth place. The Comets did finish ahead of ASC foes UT-Tyler and East Texas Baptist.
The top two finishers for the Comet men were
Brenton Heble and
Blake Stroud. Heble ran a strong 17:01.4 race and placed ninth individually. Stroud was close behind at 17:22.2 and took 13th place.
John Gabriel placed 22nd with a 17:45.5.
The race was the final tuneup before the ASC Championship Meet Oct. 29 in Austin.
