RICHARDSON, TX (11.07.16) - For the first time in program history, the UT Dallas volleyball team will host the NCAA Division III Regional Tournament, announced by the NCAA Monday morning.

The No. 3-ranked Comets (30-2) climbed to the top spot in the NCAA D-III West Region ranking last week before collecting their second straight ASC title over the weekend. The Regional Tournament will begin Friday with four quarterfinal contests with the semifinals scheduled Saturday and the regional title match set for 2 p.m. Sunday at the UTD Activity Center.
The Comets are making their fifth-ever trip to the NCAA D-III National Tournament and back-to-back appearances for the second time in program history. UTD advanced to the national tournament in 2008, 2009, 2013 and 2015.
UTD will open play in the national tournament against Whitworth University (21-5), the champion from the Northwest Conference, in a regional comprised of seven nationally ranked Other first round contests will feature No. 16 Trinity vs. No. 25 Hendrix, No. 5 Southwestern vs. No. 19 La Verne and No. 4 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps vs. No. 6 Colorado College.
