ROUND ROCK, TX (10.28.17) - For the second consecutive season, the UT Dallas men's cross country team earned a second-place finish at the American Southwest Conference Championships, held at Old Settlers Park Saturday morning.

John Will was the Comets' top finisher as he earned second team All-ASC honors with a time of 27:34, good enough for a 14th place finish in the eight-kilometer race. Will earned his third All-ASC certificate of his career with the peformance, claiming first team honors as a freshman and second team recognition last fall.
UTD placed four runners among the top 20 in the meet as
Alireza Nourani finished 15th at 27:43,
Andres Uriegas was 17th at 27:51 and
Jorgediego Rivera Moyet was 19th at 27:56.
Nathan Musial rounded out the Comet scorers in 21st place with a time of 28:01 as UTD finished the race with 86 points. The Comets had nine runners among the top 30 in the 96-runner field.
Texas-Tyler claimed its eighth straight ASC team title with 52 points while the Comets edged out McMurry (92) for second place. Hardin-Simmons (100) was fourth, Ozarks (126) fifth, East Texas Baptist (177) sixth, LeTourneau (186) seventh, Sul Ross State (221) eighth, Concordia Texas (222) ninth and Belhaven (237) 10th. Ozark freshman Nathaneal Rankin won the race in a time of 26:41 while teammate Michael Harris was second at 26:47.
