TYLER, TX (09.08.17) - The UT Dallas men's and women' cross country teams each returned to action Friday night as both squads placed second at the Texas-Tyler Braveheart Invitational.
The men's team finished with 70 points behind host Texas-Tyler (39) while the Comet women scored 50 points, behind NCAA Division II Southeastern Oklahoma (39).
For the men,
John Will paced the Comets with a sixth place finish in the five-kilometer race in a time of 16:27.
Andres Uriegas, the Comets' top finisher last week, placed ninth at 16:32 and
Alireza Nourani was 15th at 16:47.
John Gabriel finished in 17th place at 16:55 and
Jorgediego Rivera Moyet placed 25th at 17:14 to complete the Comet scorers.
Following UTT and UTD, the Texas-Tyler alumni finished in third place with 92 points and Jacksonville College was fourth with 110 points. There were 10 full teams in the meet.
On the women's side,
Lindsey Rayborn broker her personal best in the five-kilometer race that she set just last week as she won the race in a time of 18:52.
Hollee Ratliff was fifth at 20:16 and
Samantha Tschirhart gave UTD three runners in the top 10, placing seventh at 20:22.
Gina Fossati placed 17th at 21:18 and
Megan Lutchman was 21st at 21:40 to complete the scoring.
Behind SOSU and UTD, host Texas-Tyler was third at 87 team points while the UTT alumni placed fourth at 110 and Ouachita Baptist was fifth at 137. There were 12 women's teams in the field.
The men's and women's squads return to action Saturday, Sept. 16, when they run at Rhodes College in Memphis, Tenn.
