UTD SOFTBALL FIELD
HOME OF UT DALLAS SOFTBALL
The UTD Softball Field was built prior to 2002 when UTD added both softball and baseball to its athletic department. Since that time, the fields have been continuously upgraded with new backstops, fences and dugouts as well as full-featured scoreboards.
All-time, the Comets have won nearly 55 percent of its home games since the program's inception in 2002, including a 21-1 home record in 2017. The 2017 season was the most successful in program history, as the Comets won the American Southwest Conference and advanced to the NCAA Tournament.
On May 1, 2014, the Softball Field hosted its first postseason event, when the Comets hosted Hardin-Simmons in the second round of the American Southwest Conference Tournament. The Cowgirls went on to secure a 4-0 victory over the Comets to advance to the next round.
Because the two facilities were built within an existing four-field, multi-purpose quadraplex, the existing lighting was maintained. The Softball Field, which still uses the outfield lights from the original complex, is fully lit for night games.
Future plans include replacing the lighting, adding field turf, building a press box, and upgrading the grandstands.
