ATLANTA, GA (11.18.17) - Four players scored in double figures as the UT Dallas women's basketball team earned a 68-45 win over Emory & Henry Saturday afternoon to wrap up the Emory Tip Off Classic.
Sophomore point guard Victoria Pena recorded her second "double-double" of the young season as she was one of four Comets to score at least 14 points in Saturday's win over the Wasps. Pena finished the win with 15 points and a career-high 14 rebounds, adding seven steals and four assists in strong all-around performance.
The Comets got off to a hot start, outscoring E&H, 20-9, in the opening half before securing a 36-17 lead at the break. UTD would limit the Wasps to just 34 percent (18-of-53) from the field as a team as E&H hit just 2-of-15 three-pointers. The Comets also dominated the boards, out-rebounding E&H, 43-29.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
The Comets shot 41.1 percent (23-of-56) as a team, hitting 9-of-26 three-pointers (34.6%). UTD scored 19 points off of 26 Wasp turnovers.
UTD held a second team this season under 50 points and are currently limiting teams to just 54.3 points per game through three contests.
KEY PERFORMERS
Pena topped double digits and led the Comets in scoring for the third consecutive game to start the season. She is averaging 16.3 points and 11.0 rebounds per game on the season.
Senior
Madison Steele shared the Comets' scoring lead with 15 points of her own while Ja'Lee Carver and Mia Spennato each added 14 points.

The Comets return to action next Saturday, Nov. 25, when they visit Austin College in non-conference action. Game time is 12 p.m. in Sherman.
