RICHARDSON, TX (12.02.17) - The UT Dallas women's basketball collected a fourth consecutive win Saturday afternoon as the Comets earned a 67-34 home victory over Sul Ross State in American Southwest Conference play.
The Comets held SRSU to single digits in every quarter as the visiting Lady Lobos shot just 25.5 percent from the field for the contest.
McKenzie Petty led UTD with 12 points while Mia Spennato and Kelley Skinner each added 10 points for the Comets.
Leading 28-18 at the break, Spennato hit two three-pointers early in the third quarter to spark a 10-0 run by the Comets. UTD never looked back, outscoring the Lady Lobos, 16-8, in the period and 23-8 in the final stanza.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
The Comets shot just 37.9 percent (25-of-66) as a team, but dominated the rebounds, 57-24, and forced 18 SRSU turnovers. UTD was 4-for-13 (30.8%) from three-point range, with Spennato hitting three treys, while shooting 72.2 percent (13-of-18) from the free-throw line.
KEY PERFORMERS
Petty finished the game 3-for-9 from the field, hitting one three-pointer, but was a perfect 5-for-5 from the line to for her game high. Spennato was 3-for-7 from outside.
Victoria Pena added six points and a game-high 12 rebounds.
