Comets Stumble at Concordia Texas, Fall to Tornados, 67-55

AUSTIN, TX (01.22.18) - Playing its third game in five days, the UT Dallas women's basketball team had its nine-game winning streak come to an end Monday night with a 67-55 road loss at Concordia Texas as the Comes closed out American Southwest Conference crossover play.

The host Tornados started off quickly, but UTD answered their hot start by making a run of its own and taking a 14-13 lead with 1:35 left in the opening quarter with a three-pointer by Victoria Pena. However, CTX responded with a layup on their its next possession and never looked back as the Tornados would limit the Comets to their lowest offensive output of the season and second-lowest shooting percentage of the year.

CTX opened the second quarter on an 11-2 run, grabbing the Tornados' first double-digit lead of the night with 4:19 left before half, 27-16, and would take a 10-point lead, 31-20, into the locker room.

The Tornados would maintain a double-digit for most of the third quarter before UTD would claw within eight points, 54-46, with 3:18 left in the game after a pair of Pena free throws. However, the Comets would finish the game 0-for-3 from the floor in the final three minutes of the contest.
