UTD Splits With Wildcats To Close Three-Game Series

RICHARDSON, TX (03.06.18) - The UT Dallas softball team split a doubleheader with Louisiana College Tuesday after, taking the three-game American Southwest Conference set with the Wildcats, 2-1.

After winning Monday's game, 5-3, the Comets took Tuesday's opener 3-1 before falling in the series finale, 4-2.

GAME 1 - UTD 3, LC 1
The Comets belted 11 hits off of a pair LC pitchers as UTD earned a 3-1 win over the Wildcats to open Tuesday's doubleheader.

UTD struck first in the bottom of the 1st frame with a Melissa Livermore bunt single and stolen base, leading up to an Elizabeth Brann RBI single. The Wildcats countered with a single run in the top of the 3rd, but UTD retook the lead in the bottom of the inning, thanks to a Hope Griffith single up the middle, scoring Emily Schroeder. The Comets tacked on an insurance run in the 4th on an LC error.

The Comets again opened the scoring in the 1st with a Livermore bunt and stolen base, this time capped with an RBI bases-loaded, one-out single by Samantha Halliburton. UTD had an opportunity for more runs in the frame after Halliburton's hit, but left the bases loaded.
