RICHARDSON, TX (09.08.18) - The UT Dallas women's soccer team erased a 1-0 halftime deficit and outlasted a 40-minute lightning delay, a water-soaked field and a physical Redlands team for a 2-1 home win over the Bulldogs Saturday, in a game that was scheduled for Friday night.
Lightning delays pushed Friday night's start time to Saturday morning with the two teams finally able to take the field at 10:30 a.m. The visiting Bulldogs (1-2) struck first with a tally in the 10th minute and maintained that lead until the early moments of the 2nd period.
Stephanie White found the back of the net for the equalizer for the Comets just 1:02 into the second half and the two teams then cleared the field with 31:28 remaining due to lightning in the area.
After played resumed,
Melissa Fulfer battled through a scramble in front of the net in the 60th minute to score the game-winner, her second goal of the season.
The Comets (3-0) finished with 15 shots, seven on frame, with Fulfer and
Bailee Davis leading the pack with three shots apiece. UTD keeper
Monica Dallacasa made six saves, including a key diving stop in the final minutes to preserve the win.
UT Dallas returns to action Sunday at 7 p.m. against Lesley University at the UTD Soccer Field.
