SAN ANTONIO, TX (11.16.19) - The No. 24-ranked UT Dallas men's soccer team had its 10-game winning streak snapped Saturday afternoon as the Comets dropped a 3-1 decision at regional host Trinity in the opening round of the 2019 NCAA Division III National Championship.
The Comets closed out the season with a 17-4-2 record after winning both the American Southwest Conference's regular season and tournament titles this fall. UTD set a school record with 17 victories in a season and advanced to the NCAA D-III tournament for the sixth time in program history.
The host Tigers (12-6-2) opened the scoring in the first minute of the contest as Phillip Duenez used the outside of his foot after a cross from the left by teammate Wesley Mitchell. Duenez' tally was Trinity's lone shot on goal in the first half. The Tigers would add to their lead in the 60th minute on just their second shot on goal in the match when Josh Davis found the back of the net while cleaning up a Trinity corner kick.
Trinity closed the scoring in the 82nd minute with a goal by Andrea Codispoti as the Tiger forward found an empty after mix up by the Comet defense.

Jovi Munoz helped the Comets avoid their first shutout loss of the fall as he collected his team-leading 16th tally of the season with a strike from outside the box after a pass from the right by teammate
Jordan Henderson in the 85th minute.
The Tigers out-shot UTD, 15-10, while the Comets held a 6-5 advantage over the home team in shots on target.Â
