LONGVIEW, TX (04.12.19) - The UT Dallas softball team suffered a setback for a fourth straight trip to the postseason as the Comets dropped all three games at LeTourneau in an American Southwest Conference road series Thursday and Friday.
The Comets (now 14-16, 10-13 ASC) opened the three-game set at LETU Thursday night with a 2-1, walk-off defeat, before being handed a pair of losses by the Yellow Jackets on Friday afternoon, 9-4 and 5-3.
Now sitting in seventh place in the ASC standings, UTD will wrap up league play next weekend with a three-game home series against Hardin-Simmons. The two teams will play a 4 p.m. doubleheader Thursday, before a 1 p.m. single game Friday for Senior Day.
GAME 1 - LETUÂ 2, UTD 1 (THURSDAY)
The Comets kicked off its three-game ASC series at LeTourneau Thursday night with a 2-1 loss to the host Yellow Jackets.Â
Freshman
Amy Jensen accounted for all of the Comets' offense in the loss, belting her fourth home run of the season with two outs in the top of the 2nd to give UTD an early 1-0 lead. The Jackets answered with a solo shot of their own by Macey Mize to lead off the bottom of the 6th to knot the contest and scored the game-winning run with one out in the bottom of the 7th on a UTD error.

GAME 2 - LETU 9, UTD 4 (FRIDAY)
The Comets snagged a early 3-1 one but a seven-run 4th by LETU deemed too much as UTD dropped a 9-4 decision to open Friday's doubleheader.
Down 1-0 after the opening frame, the Comets plated three runs on four hits to secure a 3-1 advantage. UTD knotted the game with an RBI sacrifice bunt by
Nicole Peters, scoring
Ravin Wilson. The Comets added RBI singles from both
Elizabeth Brann and
Melissa Livermore to grab the lead.
LeTourneau needed just four hits to score its seven runs in the 4th as the Comets committed three errors in the frame, leading to six unearned runs, to give the Jackets an 8- 3 lead.
UTD got a run back with an RBI single to left by Jensen in the top of the 6th, scoring
Amber Williams, but the host Jackets answered with a run of their own in the bottom of the inning.
The Comets collected nine hits in the loss with Jensen leading the way with a 2-for-3 performance. Livermore was 2-for-4 from the lead-off spot.
GAME 3 - LETUÂ 5, UTD 3 (FRIDAY)
The Comets were handed a 5-3 loss by LETU in the series finale, suffering their third league sweep of the season.
Down 1-0 in the 2nd again, UTD knotted the game with an RBI infield single by Jensen, scoring Wiliams, and took a 2-1 lead one inning later
Jessica Vlasek solo home run, her fifth of the season.
However, the Jackets took back the lead with two runs in the bottom of the third before adding another run in the 4th to snag a 4-2 advantage.
The Comets back within a single run in the top of the 5th thanks to a one-out single to left by
Emily Schroeder, scoring Vlasek, but would leave the tying and go-ahead runs on base. LETU got the run back in the bottom of the 5th.
UTD collecting hits in both the 6th and 7th frames but failed to plate another run, stranding runners on third in both innings.
Williams was 3-for-3 with a run scored to lead the UTD offense while Vlasek added a 2-for-4 performance with two runs scored and an RBI.
