ABILENE, TX (04.08.21) - The UT Dallas men's soccer team had it's shortened spring season come to an end Thursday night with a 3-0 loss to Concordia Texas in the semifinals of the American Southwest Conference Championship Tournament, hosted by Hardin-Simmons.
The Comets (5-1-1) out-shot CTX, 15-9, on the night, but managed just five shots on frame in the defeat. After a scoreless opening half, the Tornados (7-2) tallied three goals in the second half to advance to Saturday's ASC title game against the University of the Ozarks, a 2-1 winner over the host HSU Cowboys.
Jovi Munoz and
Arturo Ponce each finished with a team-high three shots for the Comets while
Brandon Buchanan and
Nicholas Trest each added two shots. Comet keeper
Trey Nickel made three saves.
After Saturday' stitle game, Munoz and senior
Merek Byckovski were named to the ASC All-Tournament Team.
