ABILENE, TX (03.05.22) - UT Dallas senior Ashwin Vaithianathan became the Comets' all-time singles victories leader Saturday afternoon while leading UTD to an 8-1 non-conference win over McMurry.
 
Vaithianathan collected his 39th career singles win on Saturday, eclipsing the previous record of 38, set by former Comet Mario Jelev (2016-19). Vaithianathan had previously become the Comets' all-time doubles victory leader last season.

The Comets closed doubles play, 2-1, and rolled through singles action unscathed. Vaithianathan and John Edwards tallied UTD's first point on the day in a dominating 8-1 win in No. 1 doubles. Duo Aryan Sharma and Mario Dominguez followed with an 8-5 win in No. 3 doubles.
 
UTD continued tacking on points in the win column winning all of their respective singles matches in straight sets.
 
The Comets look for a third-straight team victory Sunday when they host Oklahoma Wesleyan at 2 p.m.
