BROWNWOOD, TX (04.15.22) - After taking two games on Thursday, the UT Dallas softball team wrapped up a three-game ASC road series at Howard Payne Friday with a 3-2 defeat.
The Comets dropped to 22-12 overall after Friday's loss and sit in fifth place in the ASC standings at 14-10 with six games left in the regular season. UTD will face the two teams in the league over the final two weekends of the season, starting with a three-game home series against No. 7-ranked East Texas Baptist, Apr. 22-23. The Comets will then close the regular season Apr. 29-30 with a three-game set at No. 5 Belhaven.
UTD opened the scoring in the top of the 1st with a pair of runs, as both
Cole Johnson and
Sarah Lewis each collected RBI. Johnson plated the first run of the contest with a one-out, bases-loaded single to third base, scoring lead-off hitter
Ashley Ambrosy. Lewis doubled the lead with a run-scoring ground out, plating
Avery Markley.
However, the host Lady Jackets responded with two runs in the bottom of the inning and later scored the go-ahead run in the 3rd.
Megan Todd led the Comets with a 2-for-3 performance, closing the three-game series 7-for-11 from the plate.Â
