RICHARDSON, TEXAS (08.23.22) – The UT Dallas women's soccer team was picked to finish fifth in the American Southwest Conference, according to the league's preseason poll released Tuesday.

The Comets received 119 points, placing behind Hardin-Simmons (196), Mary Hardin-Baylor (177), Concordia Texas (141) and McMurry (122) in the balloting of the league's head coaches and directors of sports information. UTD is coming off 10-8 season in 2021, finishing in eighth place in the ASC with a 4-6 mark.

Claire O'Sullivan were among 28 listed as ASC Players to Watch in 2022. Foster, was a First Team all-conference selection last year, scoring eight goals with six assists for 22 points. She also netted three game-winners. Guidry, also a First Team All-ASC pick, contributed to eight shutouts in 2021. O'Sullivan registered a goal and an assist in 14 contests last season.
Kanute Drugan returns at the helm of the Comets for the ninth time. He has posted a 102-36-9 record for UTD in eight seasons and 341 total wins in 25 years of coaching women's soccer.
Drugan returns 17 letterwinners but just four starters from last season's squad. Along with two returning squad members, the Comets will have eight newcomers on the roster.
Junior forward
Bella Granada returns up top after scoring five goals, including one game winner, in 2021. Sophomore keeper
Mariana Gonzalez earned All-ASC Honorable Mention after posting 52 saves, a 1.39 goals against average and a shutout in 15 starts. Junior goalkeeper
Megan Hannah also returns from injury. She was an All-ASC Honorable Mention in 2020-21, posting a 0.74 GAA and 31 saves in 366 minutes.
Junior forward Meghan Hollman scored three goals in 2021.
Kate Crowe, Kaitlyn Manning and
Hendrikje Bodine each posted an assist.
The Comets open the 2022 slate against MSOE at home September 1. They also face Southwestern (Texas), Dallas and Simpson (Iowa) all at the UTD Soccer Complex in the first nine days of September. UTD will travel to San Antonio for contests against Cal Lutheran and #16 Trinity (Texas) on September 16 and 18, respectively. The Comets will also host McMurry in non-conference competition on September 22 and Rhodes on September 25.
ASC play starts on September 29 when UTD travels to Sul Ross State. The Comets will host Mary Hardin-Baylor (October 13), Concordia Texas (October 15), LeTourneau (October 20) and East Texas Baptist (October 22).
