Comets of the Week - 12/22/25
OYAKHIRE CometWeek DANIELLE OYAKHIRE  | Women's Basketball
Freshman forward Danielle Oyakhire led the Comets' defensive efforts from the post as they picked up a pair of road wins and held opponents to just 25 percent shooting and 43.5 points per game. She averaged 12.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 3.5 blocks and 2.0 steals per contest while shooting 52.6 percent (10-for-19) from the field. Oyakhire recorded a season-high 17 points with eight rebounds, four blocks and three steals in Thursday's 55-43 win at Sul Ross State. She followed with eight points, seven boards, three blocks and a steal in a 76-44 victory at Western New Mexico on Saturday.
DULIN CometWeek 2 PEYTON DULIN  | Men's Basketball
Sophomore guard Peyton Dulin averaged 16.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 4.0 steals per game as the Comets went 1-1 on the road. He scored a season-high 18 points with six rebounds, three assists and four steals in Thursday’s 91-80 win at Sul Ross State. Dulin followed with 14 points, five boards, two assists and four steals in Saturday’s five-point loss at Western New Mexico. He is tied for third in the Lone Star Conference with 32 steals this season.

JEFFERSON CometOfWeek JADEN JEFFERSON  | Men's Basketball
Sophomore guard Jaden Jefferson averaged 27.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 2.0 steals and 1.5 blocks per contest in his first two regular season games as a Comet. Against Eastern New Mexico, Jefferson scored 24 points to go with seven rebounds, five assists, a block and a pair of steals. He followed with 31 points, eight boards, five assists, two blocks and two steals in a two-point loss to #8 West Texas A&M.  Jefferson was 19-for-40 shooting and 9-for-24 from three-point range.
PAYNTER CometOfWeek CLARA PAYNTER  | Women's Basketball
Freshman forward Clara Paynter averaged 14.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game as the Comets opened Lone Star Conference play. She recorded nine points, six rebounds and three assists Thursday against Eastern New Mexico. Paynter followed a season-best 19 points, two boards, two assists, a steal and a blocked shot against #10 West Texas A&M. She also drained four three-pointers and was 6-for-6 at the line during the week.
Comets of the Week - 12/08/25
SELF Comet of Week 2.0 ADDY SELF  | Women's Basketball
Senior forward Addy Self led the Comets with 17 points, 12 rebounds, three blocks and two steals in Thursday’s 75-72 victory over Paul Quinn. She was 7-for-16 shooting and pulled down four offensive rebounds. Self also moved into ninth on the UTD career blocked shots list with 50.

SELF CometofWeek ADDY SELF  | Women's Basketball
Senior forward Addy Self averaged 9.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.5 steals per game as the Comets dominated their opponents at the Puerto Rico Clasico. She helped limit the two teams to 28 percent shooting and just 40 points per game. In Tuesday's 91-37 win against Puerto Rico-Rio Piedras, Self had nine points, seven boards, three assists and four steals. She then recorded 10 points, seven rebounds, three assists, a blocked shot and a steal in Wednesday's 77-43 victory against Puerto Rico-Mayaguez.
GOELLNER ComeofWeek HUDSON GOELLNER  | Men's Basketball
Freshman center Hudson Goellner averaged 18 points and 7.7 rebounds per game in the Comets’ three home contests over Thanksgiving week. He posted his second double-double of the season with 16 points and 10 rebounds against East Central, then had 15 points, four rebounds and two blocks against Southern Arkansas. Goellner ended the week with a 23-point, nine-rebound performance against Adams State. He shot 51.2 percent (21-of-41) from the field and also recorded five assists, five blocks and two steals.

DULIN Comet of Week PEYTON DULIN  | Men's Basketball
Sophomore guard Peyton Dulin averaged 12.5 points, 3.0 assists and 2.0 steals per game as the Comets played in Colorado. He scored nine points with three steals in Friday’s loss to #10 Colorado School of Mines. Dulin followed with 16 points and six assists on Saturday at Regis.
OTSUKA Comet Of Week UMI OTSUKA | Women's Basketball
Junior guard Umi Otsuka led the Comets with 18 points in their home-opener against Oklahoma Baptist on Saturday. She went 7-for-15 from the field and 3-for-4 from outside to go with four rebounds, three assists and a steal.
Comets of the Week - 11/17/25
OTSUKA CometOfWeek UMI OTSUKA | Women's Basketball
Junior guard Umi Otsuka averaged 18.0 points, 4.0 assists and 3.5 rebounds in a pair of close losses at the Conference Challenge. She opened the season with 26 points and six assists on Friday at UCCS. Otsuka followed with 10 points, two assists and four boards at Colorado School of Mines Saturday. She also shot 46.2 percent from the field and was 11-of-13 at the free throw line.
BURKHARDT CometOfWeek JANE BURKHARDT | Volleyball
Freshman outside hitter Jane Burkhardt hit .315 while averaging 5.56 kills and 3.00 digs per set, helping the Comets wrap up the season with a pair of victories. In Friday's four-set win over DBU, she hit .328 with 24 kills and 17 digs. Burkhardt followed with 26 kills and 10 digs in Saturday's five-set win against Texas Woman's.
Comets of the Week - 11/10/25
SEE CometOfWeek LAURA SEE | Volleyball
Junior middle blocker Laura See hit .409 with 1.14 blocks per set as the Comets went on the road over the weekend. She hit .429 with seven kills and five blocks at Texas A&M International and followed with four kills and three blocks at Texas A&M-Kingsville. See ranks seventh in the Lone Star Conference with a .301 hitting percentage this season.
HUNNINGHAKE CometOfWeek McKENZIE HUNNINGHAKE | Women's Soccer
Senior goalkeeper McKenzie Hunninghake made six saves in the season finale, a 1-1 draw against UT Tyler. She ended the season with a 1.13 goals against average, 66 saves, a .776 save percentage and a league-leading six shutouts.
Comets of the Week - 11/3/25
Lila_Westphal_COTW LILA WESTPHAL | Volleyball
Freshman middle blocker Lila Westphal hit .378 with 1.60 kills and 0.90 blocks per set as the Comets went 2-1 on the week. She started the week with six kills and three blocks in Tuesday's four-set loss at St. Edward's. Westphal then hit .500 with four kills and two blocks in a sweep of Western New Mexico, then hit .500 again with six kills and four blocks in a three-set victory over Sul Ross State.


 
Tyler_Durden_COTW TYLER DURDEN | Men's Golf
Senior Tyler Durden finished seventh at the DBU Classic in Rockwall, Texas, shooting a one-under-par. He had a 73-70-72 with 11 birdies, helping the Comets to an eighth place finish.
Comets of the Week - 10/27/25
Jane_Burkhardt_COTW JANE BURKHARDT | Volleyball
Freshman outside hitter Jane Burkhardt broke the UT Dallas record for most kills in a match with 32 in Tuesday's four-set non-conference win at Southeastern Oklahoma State. She followed 11 kills and 22 digs in a sweep at Eastern New Mexico on Friday and had eight kills in Saturday's loss at #13 West Texas A&M. For the week, Burkhardt hit .246 with 5.10 kills and 3.00 digs per set.

 
BOZHILOV Comet of Week 2.0 ALEX BOZHILOV | Cross Country
Sophomore Alex Bozhilov earned All-Conference honors, placing 12th at the Lone Star Championship Saturday in Fort Worth. He ran the 8K course in 25:24.16 – the fifth fastest time in program history. He finished his first season at UTD with three of the five top 8K times, including the school record. 
Comets of the Week - 10/20/25
PORRAS Comet of Week CAMILAH PORRAS | Women's Golf
Freshman Camilah Porras tied for fourth place at the Battle for the Belt in Hot Springs, Ark. She shot a 73-76-74=223 (+7), sinking seven birdies. Her score of 223 was the fifth-best individual 54-hole score in school history. Porras' performance helped the Comets finish in third place in the 11-team tournament.
 
ZEMANSKI Comet of Week JOSH ZEMANSKI | Men's Soccer
Junior defender Josh Zemanski played all 180 minutes at right back in the Comets' pair of shutouts. He anchored a defense that allowed just five shots on goal in Wednesday's 1-0 home win over Lubbock Christian. Zemanski then helped UTD secure a 2-0 shutout at #9 Midwestern State on Saturday.
 
Comets of the Week - 10/13/25
HERNANDEZ Comet of Week MARI HERNANDEZ | Volleyball
Junior libero Mari Hernandez became the 13th player in school history to reach the 1,000-dig mark on Saturday, coming up with 19 at UT Permian Basin. She now has 1,015 in her career and ranks second on UTD's career list with 4.83 digs per set.
 
BRAZZELL Comet of Week AVERY BRAZZELL | Men's Soccer
Junior forward Avery Brazzell recorded an assist and a goal in the Comets' 2-0 victory over West Texas A&M on Saturday. He assisted the first goal in the 21st minute and scored on a breakaway with 20 seconds remaining to seal the victory. Brazzell also took a shot in Wednesday's 1-1 draw at DBU.
 
Comets of the Week - 10/06/25
BOZHILOV Comet of Week 2.0 ALEX BOZHILOV | Cross Country
Sophomore Alex Bozhilov broke the school record in the 8K at the Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival in Fayetteville, Arkansas on Saturday. He finished 64th out of 285 runners in the prestigious McDonnell Memorial race with a time of 25:15.2, besting the two-year-old record by 4.5 seconds. Bozhilov's time ranks 14th in the Lone Star Conference.

 
ULLEN Comet of Week LINA ULLEN | Women's Soccer
Graduate student Lina Ullen limited Texas A&M International to just one shot on goal as the Comets shutout the Dustdevils 1-0 on the road Saturday. Ullen logged all 90 minutes at center back and held TAMIU to seven total shots in UTD's fourth shutout of the season. She has played every minute of all nine games this year.

 
Comets of the Week - 09/29/25
GABBY THOMPSON Comet of Week GABBY THOMPSON | Women's Soccer
Junior forward Gabby Thompson recorded both game-winning goals in the Comets' wins last week. She scored the second goal of the game in the 38th minute of Wednesday's 4-1 victory at Eastern New Mexico. Thompson then recorded her eighth goal of the season in the 32nd minute of Saturday's 1-0 win against UT Permian Basin.
ANDERSON Comet of Week RYAN ANDERSON | Men's Soccer
Sophomore forward/defender Ryan Anderson scored his first two goals of the season and helped produce a shutout in UTD's 4-0 win over Dallas Christian Saturday. He came off the bench to score the first goal of the game in the 15th minute off a header, then scored again in the 25th minute, while logging 74 minutes on the backline. Anderson also took a shot in 81 minutes of action at Oklahoma Christian Thursday.

DE LOS REYES Comet of Week JULIO DE LOS REYES | Men's Soccer
Junior defender Julio De Los Reyes helped the Comets pick up a pair of home victories as the back line allowed just five shots on goal and one score. He played all 90 minutes and limited Ouachita Baptist to two shots on goal in Thursday's 3-1 victory. De Los Reyes once again went the entire game in a 0-0 shutout effort against Sul Ross State on Saturday.
WOODS Comet of Week MOLLY WOODS | Women's Golf
Freshman Molly Woods placed second at the Oklahoma Intercollegiate in Lawton, shooting a 72-74=146 (+4). Her score was two shots off the lead as she tied for the tournament lead with seven birdies made. Woods' performance helped the Comets finish second as a team
Comets of the Week - 09/15/25
Melia MELIA MENDOZA-FLORES | Volleyball
Sophomore middle blocker Melia Mendoza-Flores hit .413, averaging 1.82 kills per set as the Comets went 2-2 at the Reddie-Tiger Invitational. She hit .333 or better in all four matches, including .462 with seven kills in a five-set win against Mississippi College. Mendoza-Flores had a career-high 14 kills while hitting .407 in a five-set loss at Henderson State. She also recorded 10 blocks on the week and was named to the All-Tournament Team.
Callum CALLUM THOMPSON | Men's Soccer
Redshirt freshman defender Callum Thompson scored both game-winning goals and played all 180 minutes as UT Dallas recorded a pair of road shutouts. He found the net in the 18th minute on a backwards, floating header off a free kick in Thursday's 1-0 win at West Texas A&M. Thompson struck again early with a 14th-minute score in Saturday's 2-0 blanking at Lubbock Christian. His defensive efforts help limit the Buffaloes to four shots on goal and the Chaparrals to none.
Comets of the Week - 09/08/25
VILCA Comet of Week CHELSEA VILCA | Women's Soccer
Senior forward Chelsea Vilca recorded seven points on three goals as the Comets opened the season 1-0-1. In Thursday's season-opening 5-0 home victory over Oklahoma Baptist, she scored the first two goals of the game only 1:05 apart in the 22nd and 23rd minutes. The time between goals was the fourth-fastest by a single player in program history. Vilca went on to assist the third goal of the game in the 36th minute. She tied the game 1-1 in the 55th minute in Saturday's draw at Rogers State.
 
BOZHILOV Comet of Week ALEX BOZHILOV | Cross Country
Sophomore Alex Bozhilov took third at the UT Tyler Cross Country Opener on Saturday, leading the Comets to a second-place team finish. He completed the 8K course in 26:00.79 – the 16th-fastest mark in program history. UTD
