Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Comets and Gents Battle to a 2-2 Draw

RICHARDSON, Texas - In their final non-conference game of 2022, the UT Dallas men's soccer team tied Centenary (La.) 2-2 at the UTD Soccer Complex Sunday evening.

The Comets (4-2-2) took an early lead when junior defender Gavin Smith sent a ball down the field to a racing Riley O'Donnell who then found Kane Kidwell who knocked it in from the left side in the 23rd minute.

The Gents (1-3-5) tied it up just before halftime with a goal by Mackenzie Soul and assist from Jade Hiller.

A foul in the 50th minute led to a Kidwell assist on O'Donnell's score to give UTD a 2-1 advantage. Just over two minutes later Ron Masti tied it back up with a pass from Jaron Petreas for the final 2-2 score.

The Comets outshot the Gents 16-9 overall and 7-5 on goal. UTD also led 6-4 in corner kicks and 14-7 in fouls.

UT Dallas Notes
- O'Donnell recorded the 18th goal and sixth assist of his career.
- Kidwell came up with his seventh career goal and sixth assist.
- The assist was the first in Smith's career.
 - Joe Ruedi and Omega Eyassu each recorded a shot on goal.
- Brandon Buchanan and Aiden Currie both took two shots.
- Sophomore Michael Hesse recorded three saves in goal.

Centenary Notes
- Masti took three shots, one goal and Brennan Amato had two shots and one on goal.
- Petreas, Soul and Quentin Helm each took a shot on goal.
- Sami Borchalli had five saves.
