RICHARDSON, Texas - The 2022-23 campaign came to an end for the UT Dallas men's tennis team Saturday with a 5-3 loss to Concordia Texas in the American Southwest Conference Championship Tournament Semifinals at the UTD Tennis Courts Friday.
The host Comets (8-7), the number one seed from the East Division, were down 2-1 to the Tornados (16-4), the West's second seed, after doubles. UTD won 8-3 at number two where
Snehin Yerragudi and
Nick Boquet defeated Esteban Arredondo and Joeri Bregman 8-6.
After Concordia took number one singles to go up 3-1,
Jed De Luna won 6-3, 6-4 in the sixth flight over Jorge Garcia and Ritivk Ganesan earned a 2-6, 6-1, 6-3 decision against Daniel Beckles in number four to knot the match.
The Tornados, who will meet the top seed from the West of Hardin-Simmons in Saturday's Finals, finished the match with a pair of three-set victories. At number three Andres Padilla won 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 over Comet
Eddy Shteyn and Esteban Arredondo defeated
Aryan Sharma 3-6, 7-6 (7-0), 7-6 (7-1) at number five.
Ganesan and De Luna moved into a tie for fifth on UTD's career list with 30 singles wins. Ganesan will be named to the All-Tournament Team.
