Softball Season Ends at ASC Tournament

BELTON, Texas - The 2023 UT Dallas softball season came to an end at the American Southwest Conference Championship Tournament when they were eliminated by host #15 Mary Hardin-Baylor 6-1 Friday.

The top-seeded Cru (30-11) outhit the Comets (24-18) while drawing four walks and taking advantage of two errors.

UMHB scored two runs in the first, two in the third and two more in the fourth. UTD's run came in the sixth when center fielder Riley Westmoreland lead off with a single and scored on a double by third baseman Addison Caddell.

Friday was the final game for six seniors - Jordan Evans, Marisa Mejia, Jordan Rasmussen, Emilie Hoelscher, Megan Todd and Sarah Lewis.

UT Dallas Notes
- Hoelscher finished the season with a school record 151 strikeouts. The Comet staff also broke the school record with 249 on the year.
- Caddell's double was her team-leading 13th of the season to go with 23 RBI.
- Westmreland and Cole Johnson also added hits.
- Megan Cavazos was hit by a pitch.

Mary Hardin-Baylor Notes
- Grason Long (14-4) earned the win, allowing three hits, one run and striking out five.
- Lexi Harris was 2-for-4 with two runs scored, a RBI, a double and a stolen base.
- Bailey Eggletson was 2-for-3 with a double, a triple, RBI and run scored.
- Taylor Holman was also 2-for-3 with a double.
