RICHARDSON, Texas - In what could be a preview of the American Southwest Conference Championship Finals, the UT Dallas men's tennis team lost to Concordia Texas 5-4 at the UTD Tennis Courts Sunday afternoon.
The Tornados (12-5), who currently lead the ASC West Division, started the match by taking two of the three doubles points. The Comets (7-4), who are tied for the lead in the East, won at number one when
Benjamin Dubois and
Andres Gonzalez defeated Joshua Bode and Adrian Munguia 8-4.
The teams split singles, with Concordia taking the top three spots. In the battle at number one Bode, an All-American, defeated Gonzalez 7-5, 6-3.Â
UTD's points started with Dubois winning a three-setter at number four 6-2, 2-6, 6-3 against Kishan Kersten.
Nick Boquet won at five over Daniel Beckles 7-5, 6-2 and
Jed De Luna ground out a 6-3, 6-7 (2-7), 7-6 (7-5) victory over Joeri Bregman in the sixth spot.
Dubois' singles victory now makes him 9-2 on the season.
The Comets will play an exhibition match at Tyler Junior College on Thursday at 2 p.m., then face East Texas Baptist in Marshall for the ASC East Division title Saturday at 3 p.m.
