WACO, Texas - The UT Dallas men's tennis team won its American Southwest Conference Championship Tournament Quarterfinal match by defeating Mary Hardin-Baylor 5-1 at the Hawkins Indoor Tennis Center Thursday afternoon.
The Comets (8-5) advance to Friday's 2 p.m. Semifinal match against the host and top seed from the West Division Concordia Texas.
UTD opened the match by winning two of the three doubles match-ups against the Cru (9-7).
Noah Sam and
Snehin Yerragudi won 8-2 over Drew Gonzales and Ethan Kittredge at number three. In the top flight,
Andres Gonzalez and
Nathan Qi need a tiebreak to defeat Joquaim Fernandes and Spencer Hornbeck 8-7 (7-5).
The Comets wrapped up the match by earning three victories in singles. Gonzalez defeated Fernandes 6-1, 6-3 at number one and Yerragudi was a 6-4, 6-1 victor over Brylee White at three. Sophomore
Benjamin Dubois posted a 6-1, 6-0 win against Gonzales at number four.
UTD will play in its eighth consecutive ASC Semifinal on Friday.
