MARSHALL, Texas - The UT Dallas baseball team lost its first game of the American Southwest Conference Championship Tournament 9-5 to Concordia Texas at Woods Field Saturday.

The loss sends the Comets (29-13) into an elimination game at 6 p.m. Saturday against host #2/3 East Texas Baptist. The winner will meet the Tornados (26-16) in Sunday's Finals.

First baseman Chris Morrow hit a two-out home run to left field for Concordia in the top of the first. UTD answered with four runs on five hits and an error in the bottom of the inning. Dylan Bivins and Payton Taylor each had a RBI-single while left fielder Lucas Rexin connected on a run-scoring double in the frame.

The Tornados immediately tied it up at 4-4 in the top of the second, taking advantage of a hit batter, three consecutive singles and a balk. They regained the lead with a run in the third and converted a bases loaded walk in the fourth to go up 6-4.

A three-run homer by Julian Swift in the fifth gave CTX a firm 9-4 advantage. Taylor hit a solo shot over the left field fence in the sixth for the final run of the game.

UTD outhit Concordia 10-9 but the Tornados drew more walks, 5-2 and had five hit batters. 

UT Dallas Notes
- Taylor went 2-for-4 with two runs driven in, hitting his first home run of the season.
- All nine batters in the lineup recorded a hit.
- First baseman Zach Landry and Rexin each had a double.
- Luke Finn and Albert Gaza both stole a base.
- Dylan Collins (4-3) took the loss, lasting two innings.
- Tobin Oler struck out five and allowed a hit, a walk and hit a batter in three scoreless innings.
- Jake Jennings struck out one in a scoreless ninth.

Concordia Texas Notes
- Swift went 2-for-6 with four RBI.
- Morrow was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and was hit by a pitch.
- Left fielder Brandon Gyones had a single, stoel a base, was hit twice and scored two times.
- Dakota Palmer (3-4) allowed nine hits, five runs, two walks and struck out two over 6.1 innings.
- Ryan Bailey had a strikeout and allowed a hit 2.2 scoreless frames.
