UTD Receives Division II President's Award for Academic Excellence

INDIANAPOLIS - UT Dallas was one of 43 schools recognized with the 2025 NCAA Division II Presidents' Award for Academic Excellence

The Presidents' Award for Academic Success recognizes Division II institutions that recorded an Academic Success Rate (ASR) at or above 90 percent. The awards are presented for a 15th year and tracked student-athlete progress and graduation over the last six academic years (2018-2024). UTD was one of three programs from the Lone Star Conference to earn the honors.

"The Presidents' Award for Academic Excellence highlights what makes Division II truly distinctive — our unwavering commitment to the full success of our student-athletes," said Colleen Perry Keith, president at Goldey-Beacom College and president of the Division II Executive Board. "Achieving a 90 percent Academic Success Rate is an extraordinary accomplishment, and these institutions exemplify the balance of academic achievement, competitive excellence and personal growth that defines Division II."

The Comets posted a 91 percent ASR. UTD had three sport programs with perfect 100 ASRs -- men's and women's cross country/track and field, and women's golf. Seven other programs posted better than 90 percent ASRs led by women's basketball (97 ASR), softball (96 ASR) and volleyball (95 ASR). Baseball, men's basketball, women's soccer and women's tennis also achieved a 90 percent or better.

Notes
  • Calculation of the NCAA Division II ASR includes student-athletes who initially enroll or transfer into an institution and removes those who left the school in good academic standing. The most recent Academic Success Rate for student-athletes who entered college from the 2015-2018 years shows 77 percent of Division II student-athletes graduated within six years of their initial enrollment.
  • The students in the most recently added cohort (2018 entry) would typically have been in the second semester of their sophomore academic year when the COVID-19 pandemic began in March 2020.
