Men's Soccer Finishes Season in Second Place in LSC Standings

TYLER, Texas - The UT Dallas men's soccer team ended the 2025 season with a 3-1 loss to UT Tyler at Citizen First Bank-Perkins Soccer Complex on Wednesday evening.

Despite the loss, the Comets finished 11-5-2 overall and 7-2-1 in the Lone Star Conference, claiming second place in their inaugural season in the league. Jason Hirsch's squad also completed its 28th consecutive winning campaign, dating back to 1998.

First Half Highlights 
- The Patriots (7-7-3, 5-4-2 LSC) applied early pressure with a corner kick in the 11th minute followed by a shot from Luan Rangel.  
- UTD goalkeeper Ryder Claborn made key saves against Sid Cleofe and Hugo Marques to keep the scoreline tight.  
- Jason Verhoogen found the net for the Patriots in the 32nd minute after a series of corners, giving them a 1-0 lead.  
- UTT missed a penalty kick opportunity in the 41st minute.  

Second Half Highlights
- UTT extended their lead with a goal by Noe Coutino in the 59th minute, assisted by Oscar Sosa.  
- Redshirt freshman Jordan Jones responded for UTD with a goal in the 72nd minute, assisted by Julio De Los Reyes, narrowing the deficit.  
- Tony Ngombi restored UTT's two-goal advantage in the 75th minute, with another assist from Sosa.  
- The Comets continued to press with multiple attempts, but Niclas Becker made key saves, including stops against Evan Pustejovsky and Ryan Anderson.

The Patriots outshot the Comets 16-14 overall and 8-5 on goal. UTD led in corner kicks, 7-4, while UTT committed more fouls, 8-5.
