RICHARDSON, Texas - The UT Dallas baseball team completed a three-game series sweep of Dallas with a 21-13 victory at UTD Baseball Field Sunday afternoon.
The Comets (3-0) outscored the Crusaders (0-3) 51-20 in the series - the most runs over three games to start the season in program history.
On Sunday, UTD recorded 14 hits and drew a school-record 17 walks while being hit by a pitch five times. The Comets also stole five bases and posted four doubles, a home run and a sacrifice fly.
Dallas opened the scoring with a run in the first inning. UTD answered with six runs in the bottom of the frame, which included a three-run homer to right center from junior right fielder
Trent McCown. The Crusaders cut the deficit in half to 6-3 with a pair of runs in the second.
The Comets played 10 runs on six hits and six walks in the third. Senior third baseman

Nico Fernandez each had two-run hits in the inning.

Kole Kinnison drove in first baseman
Jayden Chatman in the fourth to make the game 17-3. An error and two-run single by Dylan Roscopf made it 17-6 in the fifth. The Comets scored their final four runs on a single, three hit batters and three walks in the bottom of the fifth to go up 21-6.
Five errors by the UTD defense led to seven runs over for Dallas in the sixth and seventh for the final 21-13 score.
Senior starter
Apollo Cassimatis (1-0) earned the victory for the Comets, allowing two earned runs, six hits and two walks and tying his career-high of five strikeouts over five innings. Crusader starter Aien Sharp faced eight batters and only recorded one out while giving up three hits, six runs and three walks to take the loss.
UT Dallas Notes
- Munoz went 4-for-5 with a pair of runs, three RBI and a double. He recorded four hits in each of the last two games and extended his hitting streak to six games, dating back to last season.
- Garza went 3-for-5 with four runs scored, thee RBI, a double and a pair of steals. He leads the team with four stolen bases on the season.Â
- Chatman walked and scored three times. He drew a team-high eight walks in the series.
- Rexin was 2-for-3, scored three times and drove in two runs with two stolen bases and a double. He recorded two hits in all three contests.
- Self drove in three runs with two walks, two runs and three RBI. Despite only having two hits in the series, he recorded nine runs batted in.
- McCown finished with the home run, three RBI, three walks and three runs scored. He blasted four homers and 10 RBI in the series for a slugging percentage of 2.000.
- Shortstop
Thomas Soto drew four walks.
- Junior pitcher Ethan Vandement threw the final two innings and allowed just one walk while holding UD off the board.

- Roscopf went 2-for-3 with two RIB and a run scored.Â
- Nate Curtis walked twice and scored a run.
- First baseman Caleb Hohman walked, scored and stole a base.
- Andrew Gaspar had a hit, a walk, RBI and scored twice.
