TUSCON, Ariz. - The UT Dallas baseball wrapped up the Tuscon Invitational Games with a pair of victories Saturday, defeating Macalester 21-2 in seven innings and Hamline 8-2.
With the wins, the Comets improve to 16-1 on the year - the best start in program history. The 2022 squad started the season 15-2.

UTD set a program record by posting its fifth 20-run performance of the season.
Junior right fielder
Trent McCown paced the Comet offense by going 4-for-5 with a home run, double and eight runs batted in. The eight RBI ties Johnny Espree's 2004 record for most in a game.
UTD outhit the Scots (4-8) 19-8 on the day and drew seven walks while issuing none.
Anthony France improved to 3-0 on the season, striking out five batters and giving up seven hits and two runs in the four-inning start.
Trevor McGrath picked up three three-inning save with seven strikeouts and only one hit allowed.
The Comets put runs on the board in all seven innings, including seven in the top of the sixth.
Junior catcher
Nico Fernandez was 3-for-4 with two runs scored, three RBI and a double. First baseman
Jayden Chatman was 3-for-5 with a pair of runs scored and a RBI. Second baseman
Albert Garza drove in two runs, scored three times and had a pair of base hits.
Caleb Chou-Green (0-2) started and was tagged with the loss, lasting just 1.1 innings. Catcher Stephen Paulsen was 2-for-2 with a RBI. Isaiah Ramirez, Evan Kang and Nathan Gumagay each recorded a double.
vs. Hamline
UTD continued its hot offense, outhitting the Pipers (5-12) 15-9.
Chatman had a sacrifice fly that knocked in
Austin Wallace in the first. He also doubled in two more as part of a five-run second inning rally. Fernandez also posted a two-run single in the frame.
Both of Hamline's runs came in the fifth on three hits and a sacrifice fly. Fernandez doubled in two more runs in the eighth for the final 8-2 score.
Apollo Cassimatis (3-0) earned the win, allowing one hit with one strikeout over two innings in the start.

Derek Brieden each had scoreless relief outings.
Fernandez finished the game 4-for-5 with a double and four RBI. Chatman drove in three runs with a double and a sac fly. Wallace went 2-for-4 with three runs scored, a walk and three stolen bases.
Adrian Guerrero Jr. and
Thomas Soto both added two hits.
Parker Leipzig (0-2) earned the loss, giving up 11 hits, six runs, three walks and three strikeouts over five innings. Ryan Burley was 3-for-3 with a run scored, two walks and a stolen base. Alexander Hokensen was 2-for-3.
