RICHARDSON, Texas - The UT Dallas baseball team closed out the series against Mary Hardin-Baylor with a 7-3 victory at UTD Baseball Field Saturday afternoon.
Before the game, the Comets (26-4) honored 14 seniors -

UTD picked up four runs on four hits in the second inning.
Austin Wallace led off with a base hit and moved to second on a wild pitch, then scored on a Chatman single up the middle.
Thomas Soto walked and a pitch hit
Jackson Montee to load the bases. Self plated Chatman with a sacrifice fly to right field to put the Comets up 2-0. Second baseman
Albert Garza followed with a single that dropped down the left field line, scoring Soto and Montee.
They took a 5-0 lead when Wallace drew a walk, moved to second on Chatman hit, stole third and scored on a Soto line drive sac fly to center.Â
The Cru (18-13) picked up a run in the fourth when shortstop Easton Cline singled and was tripled in by Trae Deck III.
Nico Fernandez doubled in Garza and Wallace plated Rexin with a single in the fourth to make the game 7-1.
Left fielder Carson Hagan singled, stole second and scored on a throwing error in the top of the fifth for UMHB's second run. A bases-loaded walk issued to Cameron Talburt in the sixth made the contest 7-3.
Starter
Jake Nicholson (1-1) earned his first win of the year, allowing five hits, one earned run and a walk with six strikeouts over five innings. Erick Roberts (0-2) started and took the loss for the Cru, lasting 1.1 innings and allowing four runs.
UT Dallas Notes
- Nicholson's outing was his longest of the year with a season-best six Ks.

Kasey Klyng threw two scoreless innings and Jennings finished out the game with a scoreless ninth. Both hurlers recorded two strikeouts. Klyng also picked off a runner.
- Wallace was 3-for-4 with two runs scored, a RBI, a walk and a stolen base.
- Rexin went 2-for-4 with a run scored and a stolen base.
- Chatman was also 2-for-4 with a run scored, run batted in and steal.
- Fernandez recorded a double and a RBI.Â
- Garza walked three times, was hit by a pitch, had a base hit, drove in two runs and scored.
- Self tied the UTD career record with his 10th sacrifice fly.
Mary Hardin-Baylor Notes
- Cline was 3-for-4 with a run scored and a walk.
- Alejandro Sanchez III was 3-for-5.
- Riley Bender posted a double and Deck had the triple.
- Hagan recorded a hit, a run and stole two bases.
- The Cru turned three double plays.
- Isaac Brann, Preston Blake and Mason Semmelmann combined 4.2 innings of scoreless relief.
