RICHARDSON, Texas - The UT Dallas men's tennis team defeated Howard Payne 6-1 at the UTD Tennis Courts Saturday afternoon.
The contest was the final regular-season match of the year for the Comets (5-9).
UTD took the doubles point from the Yellow Jackets (1-12), winning all three battles.
Benjamin Dubois and
Travis Rafferty took down Nicholas Gates and Riley Harker 6-0 at the top spot and
Giritharan D and
Eddy Shteyn defeated Parker Hoel and River Prado 6-1 at number two.
Harshom Gupta and
Matheus de Freitas Zanellato won at three against Gabriel Keeney-McCollough and Michael Woodward 6-0.
The Comets went on to win the top five singles matches. Rafferty topped Gates 6-1, 6-0 at number one and Dubois improved to 9-5 on the year by win over Harker 6-0, 6-0 at two. Zanellato won 6-0, 6-0 in the fourth spot over Hoel. Gupta was a 6-0, 6-3 winner against Noah Baiani at the fifth position.
Saturday marked the final match for D, Gupta, Rafferty, Shteyn and Zanellato.
UTD will face Collin College in an exhibition match at 11 a.m. on Tuesday.
