RICHARDSON, Texas - Midfielder
Jules Chavez scored in the 78th minute, giving UT Dallas a 1-0 Lone Star Conference women's soccer victory against Texas A&M International at UTD Soccer Field on Saturday evening.
Chavez found the left side of the net after a cross from
Avery Riley, breaking the scoreless tie.
The Comets (8-2-1, 4-2-1 LSC) had a chance early when
Kyleigh D'Spain's shot was stopped by Maria Melendez in the 15th minute.
Emma Best also had a shot on goal stopped by the Dustdevils (2-7, 2-5 LSC) in the 59th.
After UTD scored, goalkeeper
Melyna Martinez stopped a strike by Julissa Gonzalez in the 79th minute, followed by a shot on goal from Tatiana Perez Lluis in the 81st.
UTD outshot TAMIU 9-8 overall and 3-2 on goal. The Dustdevils led in corner kicks, 4-2, and the Comets committed more fouls, 12-7.
UT Dallas Notes
- Chavez scored for the fifth time this season and 22nd time in her career. She leads the Comets with 13 points in 2026. It was also her sixth career game-winning goal.
- Riley recorded her second assist of the season.
- Martinez posted two saves for her eighth shutout of the season.
- Best was the only field player to play all 90 minutes.
