RICHARDSON, Texas - The UT Dallas men's tennis team lost to #19 Midwestern State in a Lone Star Conference duel at the UTD Tennis Courts on Friday.
The visiting Mustangs (10-4, 2-1 LSC) won the doubles point by taking all three match-ups.
Benjamin Dubois and
Matheus de Freitas Zanellato fell to #35 Juan Duque and Bruno Sanchez 6-3 at the number one spot. The Comets' (1-12, 1-4 LSC)
Juan Luis Aguirre and
Eddy Shteyn pushed #44 Matthew Earle and Germano Setti to a tiebreaker, before coming up just short at 7-6 (9-7) at number two.
MSU, which featured three top 50 players in NCAA Division II, won all six singles battles. Dubois almost knocked off #50 Sanchez 4-6, 7-6 (7-5), 1-0 (10-6) at number two. Shteyn lost to Jose Marquez 6-0, 6-4 in the third spot and Zanellato was bested by Tomas Leguizamon 7-5, 6-2 at four. Junior
Ronav Aviur battled Rowan Olsen to a 6-4, 6-4 loss at number five.
UTD will host #31 Cameron in league play on Saturday at 1 p.m.
