RICHARDSON, Texas - The UT Dallas men's soccer team battled DBU to a 0-0 tie in Lone Star Conference play at the UTD Soccer Field on Wednesday night.
It was the second straight shutout and third in the last four games for the Comets (6-1-3, 0-0-2 LSC). They outshot the Patriots (4-2-4, 0-0-3 LSC) 11-6 overall and 6-2 on goal.
UTD led 4-2 in corner kick chances and DBU committed more fouls, 11-8.
The Comets managed five shots on goal in the first half, with Sean Mattivi making each stop. Forward
Avery Brazzell had a chance in the third minute and
Aaron Pondeca had a shot saved in the 19th minute.
Julio De Los Reyes,
Carson Burden and
Seb Martinez each took shots on goal later in the opening period.
UTD's
Ryder Claborn made a save in each half - stopping a shot in the 10th minute and another in the 73rd.
Tyler Leonard took a shot on goal in the 89th minute, but Mattivi secured the scoreless contest with another save.
UT Dallas Notes
- Claborn recorded his fourth shutout of the season. He is now tied for fifth in program history with 11 career shutouts.
- De Los Reyes, Pondeca, Brazzell, Burden, Leonard and Martinez each took a shot on goal.
