RICHARDSON, Texas - Third-year center back Emma Best was named the Lone Star Conference Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, anchoring the Comets in a pair of road shutouts.

Best, from Midlothian, Texas, logged all 180 minutes, limiting opponents to seven shots on goal in a 4-0 win at Oklahoma Baptist and a 2-0 blanking of Missouri Southern State. Best also scored the game-winner against the Lions in the 31st minute.

Best is the only Comet field player to play all 360 minutes in four shutouts to open the season.

UTD will commence LSC play at home with Angelo State at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
