UTD ATHLETIC FACILITIES

THE UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS AT DALLAS - located approximately 10 miles north of downtown Dallas - boasts state-of-the-art athletic facilities that are among the finest in NCAA Division III.

UTD ACTIVITY CENTER

Gym Remodel 2020At the crux of these facilities is the UTD ACTIVITY CENTER, a multi-million dollar all-purpose building that was completed in 1999. The Activity Center includes a 3,200-seat gymnasium, a 4,000-foot fitness center, an auxiliary gym, a 25-yard indoor pool, racquetball and squash courts, locker rooms, and training facilities available for all of UTD's 13 athletic programs. The gymnasium houses the men's basketball, women's basketball and volleyball teams during their respective seasons, while the UTD Athletics Department offices are found at the west entrance of the building. During the summer of 2016, the gym floor got a new modern re-design (pictured at right).

The Activity Center has hosted multiple American Southwest Conference championship events, including American Southwest Conference Volleyball and Men's Basketball Championship Tournaments multiple time, as well as NCAA Division III National Tournament games. In 2010, the Activity Center became the first UTD facility to host an NCAA III event. The men's basketball team clinched a second-round win over Wheaton College (IL) on March 6, 2010, advancing to the Sweet 16 of the national tournament in front of a record-setting home crowd at the Activity Center. Since then, UTD has hosted multilple NCAA events for volleyball as well as both men's and women's basketball events; and crowds at Activity Center events have continued to grow in size and enthusiasm.

The Activity Center is also utilized for non-departmental purposes, including Career Fairs and Commencement.

COMET SOCCER COMPLEX

6926UTD is home to the second-to-none UTD SOCCER COMPLEX with 10 fully-lighted fields, included four new fields added in 2011 at the cost of $1.2 million. The centerpiece of the soccer facilities is UTD's Main Soccer Field, where both the men's and women's intercollegiate teams play home games in the fall. More recently, the lighting and grandstands for the field were upgraded in 2015 to accommodate increasing larger crowds.

Both the men's and women's teams have won American Southwest Conference championships in the last 15 years, and the Soccer Stadium has hosted several ASC Championship events, as well as its first NCAA Division III Tournament games in 2014 and 2015.

Additional seating was added to the Main Soccer Field in 2015 with plans for a stadium seating structure on the east side of the field under consideration.

UTD BASEBALL/SOFTBALL COMPLEX

69226921UTD's BASEBALL/SOFTBALL COMPLEX was built prior to 2002 when UTD added those two sports to its intercollegiate program. Since that time, the fields have been continuously upgraded with new backstops, fences and dugouts as well as new full-featured scoreboards. Additional seating was added to the baseball field prior to the 2015 season and a press box was added during the summer of 2016. The backstop for the softball field was also updated in 2016.

Because the two facilities were built within an existing four-field, multi-purpose quadraplex, the existing lighting was maintained. The softball field, which still uses the outfield lights from the original complex, is fully lit for night games. The baseball field, however, had to have its original lights removed as the fence was moved back. Future plans may include replacing the lighting and building press boxes at the complex.

The baseball field has hosted at least two American Southwest Conference championship tournaments in the last decade.

Both fields are kept in playing condition on a year-round basis with turf management and the attention of UTD coaches and field maintenance staffs.

UTD TENNIS COMPLEX

6927The newest outdoor athletic facility on the UTD campus is the UTD TENNIS COMPLEX, located south of the Activity Center. The Complex was completed in the fall of 2013, and has 10 fully lighted courts as well as electronic scoreboards for varsity play.

Both UTD men's and women's tennis squads use the facility year round for training, as well as host tournaments and match play during the spring seasons. The courts are also available after hours for the use of all UTD students.

The complex, whic was built at a cost of $2 million.

ATHLETICS PERFORMANCE CENTER

6925The crown jewel of UTD's athletic facilities is the new Athletics Performance Center, opened in the Summer of 2015. The $400,000 facility, which was built inside the Synergy Park North building, will house UTD's strength and conditioning program, as well as facilities that may be used by UTD faculty/staff at designated hours.

The new facility features
5,000 sq. ft. of space with a complete line of Legend Fitness Pin Select weight machines and three double-sided caged lifting platforms, 40 pairs of dumbbells, 6 Legend Fitness Plate Loaded weight machines, 3 Precore treadmills and four recumbent bicycles. There is also a 500-sq. ft. warmup and agility area. UTD student athletes can use the facility year-round, working with the Strength & Conditioning Coach, to improve fitness, agility, strength, etc.
