In 2010, his third season at UT Dallas, Grant Friddell was the designated hitter in 26 games and was one of 11 Comets to finish the year batting at least .300. Listed as a catcher, Friddell's proficiency at the plate added power to the middle of UTD's batting order.

Friddell transferred to UTD from Division I Louisiana Tech in 2008, and battled for the starting catching position last year before he sustained a season-ending shoulder injury. He was granted a medical hardship waiver in order to compete in 2010.

2010: Batted .330 while tallying a career-best 26 RBIs...hit one home run, which came in a win over Mary Hardin-Baylor on March 6...totaled 34 hits, including 10 doubles...was 5-for-12 with seven RBIs in a three-game series sweep of LeTourneau (April 9-10).

2009: Hit .286 in 16 games with 14 starts...had four doubles and two home runs, driving in 10 runs before a season-ending injury.

2008: Played in 22 games for the Comets in his first season, hitting .343 in 67 at-bats...had three extra-base hits and drove in seven runs...threw out six baserunners.

HIGH SCHOOL: Played football and baseball at Clements HS in Sugar Land.
