Mason Thompson furnished a 9-5 career record as a two-year starting pitcher for UT Dallas. Originally a transfer from North Lake College, Thompson hiccuped at the beginning of his junior year before finding his niche in the rotation. He was sidelined with an injury in the heart of the 2010 season, his final year as a Comet, but returned as a key middle reliever down the stretch.

2010: Chalked up a 4-2 record, winning his first four starts before sustaining an injury in mid-March...his most dominant outing was on Feb. 20 in a 4-3 win over Hardin-Simmons, striking out five while lasting seven innings...finished the year with a 7.04 ERA...totaled 26 strikeouts and issued only eight walks.

2009: Was an effective starter for the Comets, maintaining a 6.35 ERA and 5-3 record in 13 appearances and 10 starts...recorded 41 strikeouts in 62.1 innings of work.

COLLEGE: Played two seasons at North Lake College (Irving, TX), appearing in the Junior College All-Star Game in 2007 and 2008.

HIGH SCHOOL: Played varsity baseball at  Haltom HS (Haltom, TX), where he also participated in basketball and golf...earned Team MVP honors in 2006, when he was also selected as a Second Team All-District honoree.
