Skyler Simmonds

    Volunteer Assistant Men's Soccer Coach

Skyler Simmonds has served as a volunteer assistant for UT Dallas since 2018. He has been involved within the North Texas soccer community since 2005 when he began his soccer career with DFW Tornadoes. Two years later his team changed clubs to Mustangs FC where he stayed until 2008. Simmonds then moved to Longhorns SC to play Classic League Soccer and stayed with the team through the name/club change to FC Premier. His club career came to an end in 2013 and his coaching career began shortly after. 

During that time he moved on to play collegiate soccer and pursue a career in coaching. Simmonds studied and played at Virginia Wesleyan University in Virginia Beach where he earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Recreation and Leisure Management Studies and coached as a Junior Academy Coach for Beach FC. After his college career came to an end he moved on to play professionally in England and studied to obtain a Master of Science Degree in Sports Coaching at Leeds Beckett University in Leeds, England. While playing professional soccer for Richmond International Academic and Soccer Academy and Ossett Town A.F.C, he also coached for Lawnswood Jr. FC as a Head Coach for the U10 sides.

Simmonds holds a United States Soccer Federation ‘C’ Coaching License as well as an England Football Association Level One Coaching License. He is the current Lead Reserve Coach for University of Texas at Dallas Men’s Soccer program, where he oversees the development of reserve players and their introduction into the first team. He is also the Head Coach for the Cross City SC 08B teams and CCSC Semipro teams where he puts an emphasis on enjoying the beautiful game while putting a high importance on long term development.
