Trey Nickel joined his alma mater's staff as a volunteer goalkeeper coach in 2024.
Nickel played four seasons for the Comets, logging 2,130 minutes in front of the net. He recorded 62 saves, a 0.89 goals against averaged and seven shutouts in 27 games.
He was an All-American Soutwhest Conference First Team selection as a senior and earned a Defensive Player of the Week honor from the league. Nickel was also a two-time Academic All-ASC selection.
A native of Katy, Texas, Nickel won a pair of district titles at Seven Lakes High School.
Nickel graduated from UTD in 2021 with a degree in Arts Technolgy & Emerging Communication.
