Jerry Fleming joined the UT Dallas softball staff in September of 2021. He was previously with the Comets from 2015-2017 as a volunteer pitching and catching coach.
During Fleming's time with the Comets, the pitching staff has amassed a record of 125-86 and 80-60 in the American Southwest Conference. During that time the pitchers and catchers have earned 12 All-ASC and 20 Academic All-ASC selections. The pitchers have also garnered an All-Region selection, an ASC Tri-Pitcher of the Year and nine ASC Pitcher of the Week awards.
The Comets qualified for the conference tournament five of the six seasons Fleming has been at UTD. The team won the ASC championship in 2017 and the staff was named Coaching Staff of the Year for the ASC
Fleming was born and raised in Dallas and graduated with a business degree from Stephen F. Austin State University, where he played baseball. He also played men’s fast pitch softball for 15 years as a third baseman, shortstop, and pitcher. Fleming has been coaching continuously since 1985, and has played or coached in over 4,000 games
Fleming has spent 35 years teaching pitchers in private instruction. He has had numerous students achieve All-State, All-Metro, and All-District honors and has had the honor of being present when many of those pitchers signed their letters of intent to play college softball.
Fleming has owned and operated Fleming Sales Co, a printing brokerage company, since 1983. He lives in Frisco and has one daughter, one son, and four grandchildren.
