Jean Mendes Muniz joined the UT Dallas staff as a graduate assistant for the men's and women's tennis programs in August 2023.

In two seasons, Mendes Muniz helped coach the Comet women to a 15-14 record and an American Southwest Conference title and a trip to the Second Round of the NCAA Division III Championship in 2024. The UTD men were 13-15 overall and advanced to the Semifinals of the ASC tournament in 2024. He guided 14 total All-ASC selections - six men and eight women, including the ASC-East Division Men's Tennis Most Valuable Player.

Mendes Muniz comes to UTD after playing for Midwestern State in Wichita Falls, Texas, going 32-14 in singles over five seasons. He was a four-time ITA Scholar-Athlete and team captain for the Mustangs. A member of the MSU Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, Mendes Muniz also was a part of the recipient of the Team Community Service Award. 

From Brasilia, Brazil, Mendes Muniz earned a national ranking of No. 2 with a best ITF ranking of 1,403 while attending Colegio Ateneu in Sao Jose do Rio Prieto. 

He graduated in 2022 Magna Cum Laude from MSU with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance and Management Information Systems.
