A former dual-sport student-athlete at Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa, Monjaras competed in golf and cheerleading while beginning her career as an athletic communications work-study student. Her experience included photography, writing game recaps, statistical operations, website management, public address announcing and graphic design. She later completed an athletic communications internship at Dordt University, further expanding her experience in content creation and social media management.
