Caleb Young was named the assistant coach for the UT Dallas men's basketball program in July 2025.
Before joining the Comets, Young spent two seasons as a graduate assistant at Dallas Baptist University. With the Patriots, Young contributed to one of the most successful runs in program history, highlighted by a Division II Final Four appearance in 2025, a South Central Regional Championship, and a record-setting 34-win season. He played a key role in scouting, guard development, practice planning, recruiting, and analytics, helping DBU to an overall record of 59-11 during his tenure.
Before his time at DBU, Young served as assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, Texas, where he spent five years with the program. Starting as a student assistant coach, he was promoted to a full-time assistant position in 2021. While at HSU, he helped guide the Cowboys to five consecutive American Southwest Conference tournament appearances, including a runner-up finish in 2023. He was named the 2021 TABC Small College Student Assistant of the Year for his dedication and performance.
A native of DeSoto, Texas, Young earned his bachelor’s degree in Human Sciences with a focus in Kinesiology, Fitness & Recreation and a minor in Business Management from HSU in 2022. He completed his Master’s in Sports Management from DBU in 2025.
Young is a member of both the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches and the National Association of Basketball Coaches.Â
