Cole Sondgeroth took over the UT Dallas men's and women's golf programs in July of 2022.

Sondgeroth garnered unprecedented success in 2022-23, his first season with the Comets. Both men's and women's teams won the American Southwest Conference Championship and finished 14th at the NCAA Division III Championships. He was also the ASC Coach of the Year in both men's and women's golf. In 2023-24, the Comet women repeated as ASC Champions and finished ninth in the national tournament, while the men were the runner-up via playoff at the league tournament and finished 20th nationally. In 2024-25, competing as an NCAA Division II Independent, the Comet women won three tournaments and the men took two titles.

The Comet women shattered almost every record in Sondgeroth's inaugural season. They won the ASC title by 21 strokes and broke championship team score by 38. UTD won six tournaments and placed second in two more. In his second year, the Comets broke the season-scoring average school record with 302.24 strokes per round, the birdies record (257) and rounds played (25) mark. They also had the best 18-hole, 36-hole and 72-hole tallies in program history while winning six tournaments for the second consecutive season. The women won three more tournaments in 2024-25.

In three seasons, Sondgeroth has coached five All-Americans, three ASC Players of the Year, an Academic All-America of the Year and Elite 90 winner, as well as nine All-ASC picks. He has won back-to-back ASC Coach of the Year awards.

The UTD men broke school record with 26 rounds played in his first season and the record for scoring average (290.86) and birdies (564) and tied the eagles mark (13). The Comets won the ASC title and placed second in four other tournaments in year won and won three tournaments with three runner-up finishes in the second season. In 2023-24, Sondgeroth's team also broke the program record for single round, 18-hole, 36-hole and 54-hole scores. In 2024-25, the Comet men once again broke the scoring record (289.70), the team single-round and 54-hole scores. 

Individually, he has produced a PING All-American, the two ASC Individual Medalists, eight all-conference picks, two ASC Newcomers of the Year and one ASC Freshman of the Year.

A native of Bloomington, Ill., Sondgeroth came to UT Dallas after a three-year stint as the Head Men's and Women's Golf Coach at Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa. While with the Duhawks, Sondgeroth led his men's squad to a runner-up finish at the American Rivers Conference Championships in 2021, their program's highest finish at the event in more than 15 years. In addition, Sondgeroth mentored Loras' first conference medalist in more than a decade at the 2021 event.
 
During his tenure with the Duhawks, Sondgeroth directed multiple home golf events and developed and implemented strength and conditioning programs for his teams.
 
Prior to his stop at Loras, Sondgeroth was the assistant coach for the men's and women's golf programs at his alma mater, Millikin University in Decatur Ill. While working with the Big Blue, he was instrumental in the lowering of the women's program's team scoring average by 35 strokes.
 
A four-year student-athlete for the Big Blue from 2013-17, serving as team captain as a senior, Sondgeroth earned his bachelor's degree in Sports Management, with a minor in Marketing, from Millikin in 2017. He would later collect his master's degree in Business Administration from the same institution in 2019. While with the Big Blue, he was a named to the CCIW's All-Academic team four consecutive years and was a two-time Academic All-American, presented by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).
