Courtney Walton netted the game winner with 2:18 left in the second overtime period off an
Alissa Burch corner kick. Walton, a junior playing her final season, scored her first career goal at UTD, nailing a shot into the upper right corner after Burch's corner kick bounced through a crowd in the box.Â
The Comets needed a goal by Burch off a
Carli Beckett assist in the game's 67th minute for the  chance to play overtime. CTX's Meagan Brown had given the Tornados an early 1-0 lead just 13:22 into the match, lofting a ball over UTD keeper
Macaire Ament. The two teams battled the next 54 minutes without another score until Burch tied it up 22 minutes into the second half.Â
UTD out-shot the Tornados, 22-10, putting 10 shots on goal. Ament, after giving up the early goal, shut down CTX the rest of the way, making three saves.
UTD will now meet top-seeded tournament host Hardin-Simmons in the semifinals at 11 am Saturday in Abilene.
