CLARKSVILLE, AR (10.22.15) - After rolling off nine straight victories, including five consecutive shutouts, the No. 12-ranked UT Dallas men's soccer team battled Ozarks to a 1-1 tie Thursday afternoon in American Southwest Conference play.
The Comets (now 13-1-2, 6-0-1 ASC) entered Thursday's match looking to break both the program's record for consecutive wins and shutouts, but an Ozarks' goal in the 16th minute off a throw in proved to snap both streaks. With the tie, the Comets did extended their unbeaten streak to 11 games, three shy of the program (14) record set in 2013.
Trailing 1-0 at the break, UTD would even the match in the 47th minute as
Jordan Rubel scored his fifth of the season on a header after a throw in by teammate
Andrew Jenson. The Comets matched a season low with just seven shots in the game, managing just four shots on goal.
Danny Meyer led UTD with three shots, two on goal. Comet keeper
Joseph Weber made one save, giving up one goal, 110 minutes.
Thursday's tie was the first blemish in ASC play for the Comets, who now sit atop the ASC standings with 19 points with two league games left to play. The Comets will be tested again Sunday as they visit Texas-Tyler, currently sitting second in the ASC with 13 points and four games left. Game time is 4 p.m. in Tyler.
