AUSTIN, TX (05.07.15) - The UT Dallas baseball team pounded out a season-high 22 hits en route to a 13-5 win over Hardin-Simmons Thursday morning in an elimination game at the 2015 American Southwest Conference Tournament, held at Tornado Field on the campus of Concordia Texas.
The Comets (now 26-16) advance in the elimination bracket with a matchup at 1 p.m. Friday LeTourneau, a 7-3 loser to UT-Tyler Thursday night..
Senior
Brandon George tied a UTD single-game record for hits, going 5-for-5 with three RBI and two runs scored as eight of nine Comet starters recorded at least one hit and five finished in double digits. After opening the tournament 0-for-5, George now has six consecutive hits and has raised his season batting to a league-best .414.

Tim Cole added a 4-for-5 performance with three RBI and two runs scored while
Jimmy Norris was 3-for-4 and
Kaleb Robinson and
Ryan Downs were each 3-for-5. Â The top four hitters in the Comet order were a combined 11-for-19 with 13 RBI.

Norris scored three runs from the lead-off spot and swiped two bases, extending hiis ASC season record to 35 steals with at least one game still to play.
UTD opened scoring in its half of the 1st with the first four batters hitting for a collective cycle. Norris started things off with his team-leading third triple and soon scored on a single up the middle by Cole. George then gave the Comets an early 3-0 lead with his team-best sixth home run of the season and Robinson followed up with a double. Robinson was cleared off the bases with an inning-ending double play.
After the Cowboys (who finished the year at 13-26) got two runs back in the top of the 2nd, UTD used back-to-back sacrifice flies by
David McKenzie and Norris to snag a 5-2 advantage. However, HSU plated two runs in the 3rd and another in the 4th to knot the game, 5-5.

The Comets regained the lead at 6-5 in the bottom of the 4th with another RBI single by Cole, and then used seven consecutive two-out hits in the 5th to explode for six runs and take a comfortable 12-5 advantage against three Cowboy pitchers. Â UTD picked up RBI hits from

UTD added a final run in the 7th on a Robinson single, scoring Norris from second.
Starter
Aaron Bach (5-1) gave the Comet bullpen some much-needed relief in the tournament setting, as he earned the victory with a just his second complete-game of the season. Bach would giving up five runs on 12 hits and finish with six strikeouts, but finished the game with five shutout innings.
