Box Score MEMPHIS, TN (09.19.15) - The UT Dallas volleyball team collected its third straight win Saturday afternoon with a 3-0 sweep of Rhodes, 26-24, 25-10, 25-22, in non-conference play.
The Comets (now 10-2) got a match-high 11 kills from freshman
Kristyn Schott as they had to rally for a first set win before dominating the Lynx in the final two sets. Schott finished the match hitting .375 and added 14 digs and a pair of blocks.
UTD finished the match hitting .212, but used a dominant second set to take control of the match. After rallying to take the opening set, 26-24, the Comets hit .433 (14 kills, 1 error) in the second set to pound the Lynx, 25-10. UTD would again need to rally in the the third set to secure the sweep.
Holyn Handley added nine kills while
Abbie Barth had five kills. Senior setter
Kayla Jordan ended the match with 35 assists, nearly 12 per set, while freshman libero
Fayna Zeng led UTD with 18 digs. The Comets finished with eight blocks and four aces.
Next up for UTD is the first of two American Southwest Conference crossover events this season. The Comets will travel to Belton to face both Howard Payne and Concordia Texas Friday and host Mary Hardin-Baylor Saturday.
