AUSTIN, TX (09.29.15) - A day after dropping a hard-fought 2-1 match with Mary Hardin-Baylor, the UTD women's soccer team bounced back with a vengeance, rolling past Concordia-Texas, 4-0.
UTD (6-3-0, 2-1-0 ASC) got three second-half goals to break open a 1-0 match as four different Comets got into the scoring column. The Tornados fell to 1-6-1 with the loss and fell to 1-2 in conference play.
UTD out-shot CTX, 22-10, putting 14 shots on goal. Tornado keeper Kila Hartom made 10 saves, but gave up four goals. UTD goalkeeper
Monica Dallacasa stopped five of 10 CTX shots.
Freshman
Taylor Rasmussen got the scoring started for UTD in the 29th minute, scoring off an assist from
Kat Civitillo. Eight minutes into the second half,
Sofia Quezada made it 2-0 on a penalty kick after a Tornado foul in the box.
Millie Atkins picked up her third goal of the season eight minutes later with a score in the 61st minute after an assist from
Jacqueline Kaufman.
MaKayla Forsberg took an assist from
Tori Edge to punctuate the win in the 81st minute.
The Comets will face Trinity in a non-conference matchup Tuesday night in San Antonio before returning to American Southwest Conference action next Thursday and Saturday against McMurry and Hardin-Simmons.
